The Prevention Services Department at First Call is actively involved in working with efforts to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. From community mobilization with Community 2000 Teams to presentations at schools, organizations and agencies, the First Call staff is available to work with those interested in creating healthy drug free environments.
Scientific research of effective prevention programs shows us what works best so that we can actually know our efforts are having a positive impact. Prevention efforts based on Risk and Protective Factors is most effective in working with youth. First Call's Community 2000 groups work to minimize risk factors and maximize protective factors for youth.
Another model is the Developmental Assets Framework, which seeks to build on young peoples' strengths and develop their assets. For more information on Community 2000 Teams or Risk and Protective Factors, please see additional pages on this site or feel free to contact First Call Prevention staff.
